Red Hills Desert Garden Scarecrow Walk & Haunted Canyon

We are excited to share about this fun fall adventure in St. George. Red Hills Desert Garden is a fun spot to visit year round, and admission is free. They host a few seasonal events, and we checked out the Red Hills Desert Garden Scarecrow Walk and Haunted Canyon that takes place during October. This event is a great family adventure.

There were over 40 entries when we visited in 2022.

The garden is decorated with a huge variety of scarecrows. Local businesses and people decorate a scarecrow to be displayed at the Red Hills Desert Garden. These scarecrows are all judged and prizes are given to the winners. When you visit, there are arrows pointing the direction to walk through the garden so you don’t miss any scarecrows.

This is a great way for local businesses to get their name out there.

There are a lot of different scarecrows from traditional to movie scenes to interactive displays. We loved looking at each entry and enjoying all of the details. Our boys loved finding silly scarecrows, but our favorite in 2022 was the electric company that had their scarecrow getting electrocuted.

Mom loved the photo opportunity with the Mystery Machine.
This Coco scarecrow was impressive.
This was our favorite display.
There were a big variety of scarecrows. You never know what you’ll see.
We like the creativity of all the scarecrow creators.

After you have enjoyed all of the scarecrows, you can enter the Haunted Canyon. This is where there are spooky skeletons and witches, as well as scary music playing. It walks through their slot canyon and ends at the fish viewing area. This area was decorated like a haunted circus. None of the decorations were too spooky for us, and we are scaredy cats. But if you have a young child, you can easily skip this part.

The Haunted Canyon is just a little spooky.
There are lots of skeletons in this area.
Watch out for flying witches.
The Haunted Circus was at the end of this canyon walk.

You can visit the Red Hills Desert Garden Scarecrow Walk and Haunted Canyon during the day or night. We liked going in the evening when all of the lights were on, but I think either time of day would be fun. This adventure is also great because it is stroller and wheel-friendly.

So if you are looking for a fun Fall adventure in St. George, make sure to add the Red Hills Desert Garden Scarecrow Walk and Haunted Canyon to your list. For another fun, free display try the Haunted Cove.
