Pinkerton Hot Springs

Pinkerton Hot Springs 1
You can walk right up by Pinkerton Hot Springs.

Pinkerton Hot Spring located right on the road just north of Durango, Colorado on Highway 550. This isn’t an adventure to go out of your way for, but if you’re in Durango, it is worth the ten minute drive to check it out. You can’t miss this little formation as it is right on the shoulder on the east side of the road.

The geyser is sort of a wet, brown mound that has water trickling out of it. The water isn’t really very hot, but rather lukewarm, but it must’ve seemed like a hottub to the Pioneers who discovered it.

The water comes out in a steady trickle.

We spent a few minutes and walked around the water. There were a few other children who were decked out in swimsuits and were playing on it.  It was very slippery, so be careful. Our youngest learned the hard way and slipped right into some mud!
