One of our favorite family outings is to the theater. We love putting a little culture into our boys’ lives. We are huge fans of youth theater, too, because not only are the shows geared for younger crowds, they are often a little cheaper. So we were excited when we saw that Jaks Theatre Company was putting on Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
Jaks Theatre Company is an acting company for youth ages 18 years and younger. They are centered in Salt Lake and they perform at two different locations downtown throughout the year. They pride themselves on giving audiences a Broadway type experience. We definitely found that to be the case when we saw Joseph.
This show was performed at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center. It was a lovely little theater with comfortable seats and every seat was a good one. There are two theaters in this one building.
We were blown away with the level of performance put on by the youth. The young man playing Joseph was amazing. All of the musical numbers, costumes, and stage changes were very well done. We found it hard to believe that everyone on the stage was a youth. It was that good.
The ticket prices were definitely affordable for families, too. Adult tickets are $12, and children’s tickets are $9. This is a great price for everyone to be able to go to a quality show.
We can’t wait to see what else Jaks Theatre Company will do because we really enjoyed our experience.
