National Park Free Days 2022

Happy 2022! We are excited for a new year to explore our National Parks. We are so grateful for the amazing National Parks Service and all the places we are able to see and visit throughout America. There are so many worth seeing!

Yellowstone National Park

There will be 5 National Park FREE days in 2022 (that’s one more than last year). On these days, admission to parks all over the United States is free, but often extra fees like cave tours are still required. Make sure to check the list of parks participating.

Free Days 2022

  • January 17: Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr.
  • April 16: First Day of National Park Week
  • August 4: Anniversary of the Great American Outdoors Act
  • September 24: National Public Lands Day
  • November 11: Veterans Day
We love the Tetons!

Hopefully you will get the chance to take advantage of these free days and visit a National Park or other National Site. We often purchase the National Parks annual pass because we visit more than one site per year, so it is worth the cost (the annual pass is $80). Then you can visit any site all year!

Also, if you have a child in 4th grade make sure to use their free Every Kid Outdoors pass. It gives you free admission for the year your student is in 4th grade from September 1st through August 31st of the following year. There are other pass options for current military members, senior citizens, and citizens with disabilities. For more information, visit the National Parks site.

In 2018 we visited Glacier National Park.

We have visited many National Parks and other National Sites throughout the Western United States. We love the scenery, the history, the junior ranger program, and the unique places. This new page we created has links to all the places we have been by state where you can find info on the parks as well as hikes for each park. We will add to it as we visit new places.

We hope you can take advantage of the National Park Free Days in 2022.
