We love adventuring in the outdoors! We often worry that sharing our adventures can lead people to abuse our beautiful state. We’ve talked a lot about the Leave No Trace principles in several posts. We always encourage people to stay on the trail, leave petroglyphs and other ancient art alone, and clean up after themselves. We want to leave this beautiful earth for our kids and grandkids to enjoy!
That’s why when we find socially responsible companies, we feel a lot better about using their products. One of the companies that we enjoy is adidas. adidas is best known for their shoes. What you may not know is that many of adidas sneakers are made of recycled materials. Until recently, we weren’t aware that our adidas shoes are eco-friendly.

We tried a bunch of different adidas shoes. When we looked at many of the shoe descriptions we saw that they were using recycled material for at least some parts of their shoes. This made us happy because we are teaching our kids the importance of recycling whenever possible. We were excited to try some eco-friendly shoes by adidas.
Parley Ocean Plastic
When I received my new women’s running shoes, the box has a message “end plastic waste,” and says made with Parley ocean plastic. I looked up Parley ocean plastic since I wasn’t sure what it was. I found out that Parley is a company working with adidas. They take plastic found on beaches and coasts, and recycle it into material that can be used to make adidas shoes. You can read more about their partnership here.

Eco-friendly adidas shoes
By the way, I don’t actually run in my running shoes. I use them for hiking and walking and playing at the park with my kids. The women’s running shoes are super comfortable and have great tread. There are lots of colors, and I have been very pleased with these shoes. Especially since they are so eco-friendly. I love wearing them on the trail knowing I am doing a small part in helping keep the earth a little cleaner. My husband has a pair of eco-friendly men’s sneakers, too. He also loves how comfortable they are, and that they are slip-on.

We are always looking for other ways to be a little bit more earth-friendly. So if you have any ideas or suggestions, send us an email at info@utahsadventurefamily.com. We are grateful for large companies like adidas who are making a difference.
