Santa Sleigh Ride | Rocky Mountain Outfitters

Check out our newer post about the Rocky Mountain Outfitters Christmas Light Carriage/Sleigh Rides at Jordanelle State Park. The Santa Sleigh Ride is no longer happening.

We always enjoy unique adventures in Utah. Rocky Mountain Outfitters has a great Christmas activity. They offer a Santa Sleigh Ride on select dates between Thanksgiving and Christmas. We enjoyed their Sleepy Hollow ride so much, we decided to try the Santa Sleigh Ride. Our boys were excited that no one scary would be popping out at them on this ride!

There wasn’t quite enough snow for our wagon to be on skis, so we had wheels, but the ride was still fun. As winter gets going, the horses pull sleighs which make the ride feel and sound so cool. It’s always so peaceful riding through the snow in the quiet of winter. We appreciate the drivers of the wagons who are very personable and talk to everyone, as well as answering questions.

The drivers were so nice. They chatted with us the entire way!

After crossing the meadow, the North Pole comes into view. This is your destination. There is no wait to see not only Santa, but Mrs. Claus as well. This Santa was one of the best we have seen. He took time with each child and was very fun and personal. There were free warm cookies for everyone to enjoy while they waited, too.

After a quick ride, you arrive at the North Pole.
Leave your wagon behind and head inside to see Santa!
There are some really fun decorations inside.
We loved seeing Santa and Mrs. Claus. They were so fun and friendly!

Following the visit with the Claus couple, head back outside and ride in the wagon back to your car. There are some Christmas lights to enjoy along the way, but the ride is very simple. We went at night, and the lights were beautiful. During the day it would be fun to see the snow and maybe some deer.

This is the check in and waiting area.

If you want an outside adventure, or a fun way to visit Santa without a long line, then give this outing a try. The Santa Sleigh Ride begins at Soldier Hollow. Make sure to check in and sign the waivers. There are treats for sale, too. Enjoy the ride!

Rocky Mountain Outfitters offers many different horse and wagon rides throughout the year. Visit their page for more info on other options.

Tips for Families

  • Dress warm! You will mostly be outside for this adventure.
  • Bring blankets. We took blankets to cover our legs during the ride and we were glad we did.
  • Hot chocolate costs money, so bring some cash or a card if you plan on getting treats.
  • The ride and Santa visit take about 45 minutes total.
