Unfortunately, due to a change in city code, this light show is not happening in 2021.
We were invited to check out the Lights on Wakefield out in West Valley City. This Christmas light show has been running for a few years, and does a lot to benefit local charities. We were impressed with the show and had a wonderful time at their lighting ceremony.
This light show boasts 60,000 lights with over 1 1/2 miles of extension cords. Our kids couldn’t believe that there were that many lights. The lights are all timed to music, and you can sit and enjoy the show from your car. Just tune your radio to 87.9. We watched the lights outside because it was a beautiful warm night and there was a big crowd due to it being the evening of the kick off. We even saw KSL News filming a segment. But normally, cars can park along the street and watch this amazing light show.

This Christmas light show is well timed to the music. There are lots of colors, and lots of different songs. We were there for over a half hour and never heard a song repeated. There are also a few dialogue segments that tell jokes and share facts about the lights. We had a great time watching this light show, and had to drag our kids away for bedtime. Check out the video below.

Lights on Wakefield accepts donations for two different charities: Children on the Earth and The Mascot Miracles Foundation. You do not have to donate in order to watch the light show, but if you feel like donating, you are definitely welcome to drop a donation in the collection box next to the driveway. The mascots, as well as Santa Claus, often hang out at this house on the weekends. You can follow Lights on Wakefield on Facebook for more info on Santa Claus appearances.

The lights are on Sunday-Thursday from 6:00-10:00 pm, and Friday-Saturday 6:00-11:00 pm. Lights on Wakefield are located at 6388 S Wakefield Way (5885 W). This is quite a ways out west, but worth the drive with so many lights to see and songs to hear. And you can pair this house with Whoville in West Valley City and Christmas Street in Magna. They are all within 15 minutes of each other.
