We love southern Utah, and we love a good restaurant. We’ve been to most parts of Utah, and as we travel, we try to find the best family restaurants. We’ve gathered them together in our post called Best Restaurants in Utah: One in Every County. Houston’s Trail’s End is our favorite restaurants in Kane County.
Houston’s Trail’s End is located in Kanab, which is a great jumping off point for a lot of southern Utah adventures. Trail’s End has been around since 1945, and the food is really good! The restaurant is set up with Old West decorations and there are lots of booths, which we prefer to tables.

We ordered a plate of supreme nachos because that is our favorite. The chips were homemade, and they were covered so thickly in meat, cheese, guacamole, and sour cream that we needed a fork to eat them. There was salsa, too, and we got to put it on the nachos ourselves, so there wasn’t too much or too little.

Portions are generous at Houston’s Trail’s End. We ordered a side of fries for our youngest, and the plate of fries was massive! So was the dinner roll that came with one of our meals. Dad’s burger was delicious and served with fries, and Mom couldn’t finish her BLT. One of the reasons we enjoyed this restaurant is the variety of things to order. We love a good burger and fries, but there were wraps, salads, and other home cooking options. The kids’ meals were reasonably priced, and there were several types of pie for dessert. We were too full to try one, but the pies claim to be Mile High.

If you’re in Kane County near Kanab, stop in and give Houston’s Trail’s End a try. And make sure to order the supreme nachos!

Hi Nathalie, Thank you for this recommandation. Yesterday I had a look at the restaurants at Kanab and I was not able to make a decision. Now the Houston’s Trail’s End is on top of my list. I’m so hungry now but have to wait until summer. Sending love from Germany, Christiane
We hope you enjoy it! There are a lot of options!
Hi Natalie (sorry for writing your name wrong in my first post – it was the automatic correction, in German we write your name with “th”). If we manage to be there I’ll tell you our experience ?. Happy Easter, Christiane
No worries at all! I knew who you were talking to! 😉
