Date Night Ideas Utah

We love spending time with our family, which is the reason we created Utah’s Adventure Family! But every once in awhile, Randy and I decide it’s time for a date night. We love to be together, even if it’s just for a bit of shopping at Costco, but it’s even more fun to have a special Date Night!

We gathered a bunch of fun Date Night Ideas in Utah. Many of these we have tried to make sure they were fun and worth being added to the list. Others are ideas submitted by YOU, our readers. Let us know in the comments your favorite Date Night idea.

Eat Out

You can eat inside or outside at the Blue Iguana in good weather.

I know. This is an obvious one, but Utah is full of amazing restaurants to try. And we often don’t want to splurge too much on food the kids won’t eat. So sometimes my husband grabs fast food for the kids on the way home from work. Then we go try a restaurant for Date Night. Here are some fun restaurants we love:

Eating out together is a nice time to sit and chat without the kids.

Be Creative

We love trying new creative spots like learning to dip chocolates or how to paint. Here are some fun spots we have tried for date night.

Just Add Chocolate

Making chocolates together was so fun!

Just Add Chocolate has 2 locations: Provo and Lehi. They set everything up for you to make your own hand dipped chocolates. We were a little intimidated by the process at first, but it was easy and fun. This is a great place to show your significant other that you understand their love for chocolate! And you get to take home all of those yummy chocolates you make.

Dipped Haus

This is our new favorite date night (2023). Dipped Haus is a new shop where you dip strawberries in different chocolates and toppings. We loved learning how to dip in chocolate, as well as trying different combinations. Everything was set up and ready when we arrived, and we left with huge smiles on our faces, as well as lots of yummy strawberries!

Taste: Provo

This is another chocolate tasting spot. It’s not a making chocolates activity, but a tasting spot. They also have fondue (cheese and chocolate). One of our readers said it was a great date night. We haven’t been yet, but it’s on our list to check out this month!

Cake Creation Studio

Someone told us about this fun spot to decorate a cake together. The Mighty Baker opened this shop to teach classes on cake decorating. You can go to a class in-studio, or pick up a take home kit. We can’t wait to try this out.

Paint Night

These paintings are hanging in our bathroom.

We love to try new things and painting is definitely something we are knew to! Painting together is a fun outing as you watch each other’s creations and laugh a little as you make mistakes. We have painted at My Little Paintbrush and Painter’s Palette. Both spots had fun and easy projects for both adults and children. In the end, we loved our paintings, some of which found their way onto our walls. Check for art studios near you.

My Little Paintbrush offers paint kits to pick up and also online tutorials. So if you’d like to paint at home, check that out. Painter’s Palette has more adult options, but has limited sessions right now.

Other Art Ideas

Some other art ideas that were sent in by readers are listed below. We can’t wait to check them out.

Escape Room

We made it out in time! Escape Rooms are fun double dates. Photo taken pre-covid.

Escape Rooms are perfect for a group date night. They are especially fun if you find some friends and work together to escape. Make sure those friends are smart, because you’ll be solving puzzles and working together against the clock. Some spots we recommend for escape rooms are:

Go to a Show

We love going to the theater.

My husband is not a movie guy, but he loves going to shows. The Hale Center Theater Orem has been his favorite for a long time. We have season tickets, which gives us six guaranteed date nights a year. A show is always a great way to get out of the house together. Plays, comedy shows, or even musical performances make great date nights. Here are some ideas of spots to see a good show:

Outdoor Date Nights

Hiking together in winter turned out to be really fun.

Our happy place is in nature. There is something very romantic about being together outside away from the crowds. This can be a little intimidating in February, but we’ve found that working together to accomplish something with someone you love is a great way to grow together. Here are some ways to have an outdoor date night this February.

Active Date Nights

It is surprisingly fun to jump on trampolines on a date!

If you’re more into active, exercise activities without all the cold and snow, try and indoor activity spot like a trampoline park. These are great with kids, but sometimes we get tired of watching our kid try to dunk the basketball 99 times, so we leave the kids home! If you haven’t been to a trampoline park with your spouse, you are definitely missing out!

Creative At Home Ideas

We love playing games together at home.

Getting a babysitter can be tough, so sometimes an at-home date night is just what you need. Our sweet neighbor is creating an amazing resource with unique at home date night ideas. Check out her new website, Home’s the Place, for activities that are great even when you can’t leave the house.

Some of our readers sent some at home date night ideas to me, too.

  • Get movie theater popcorn and watch a movie at home.
  • Buy a new game, get take out, and enjoy both at home together after the kids go to bed. For a list of great games, check out our Family Games post.

This post will be an ongoing Date Night Ideas in Utah list. We will add to it as we gather ideas on our date nights or from ideas sent in from you. So please share your date night ideas with us. You can email (info@utahsadventurefamily.com) or comment below.
