Brick Oven

Brick Oven

We are working on giving you our favorite restaurant in every county in Utah. One problem we’re having is that we live in Utah County, and we know a lot of great restaurants here. We’ve already written about JCW’s Burger Boys, but if you’re looking for someplace special to take you family, try the Brick Oven in Provo.

This restaurant is located just off BYU campus on 800 North in Provo, and it has been there for about 60 years. They have incredible pizza, and even better pasta, as well as a selection of calzones and other dishes. There is actually a brick oven, too, that they use to make garlic bread to go alongside your pasta.

When you first enter the restaurant, you will see this brick oven. It’s not the one they cook in right now!

Brick Oven is a Provo classic right on the corner of BYU campus.

The must-try item at this restaurant is the pasta bar. You can pair it with the salad bar and soup bar for $12.99, and all 3 are all-you-can-eat. There are usually 3 or 4 soups including homemade chicken noodle and New England clam chowder. The salad bar has a lot of fresh favorites including a really delicious chocolate mousse.

We LOVE the Pasta Bar! So many delicious choices.

Our boys love choosing their pasta and sauces.

The pasta bar is amazing. Much of the pasta is fresh-made right at the restaurant. There are always several different kinds of fetuccini including whole-wheat, tomato basil, garlic and black pepper depending on when you’re there. Then, there are three white sauces and three red sauces, as well as a variety of cheeses to sprinkle on the pasta. You also get as much garlic bread, meatballs and Italian sausage as you can hold. If you’re looking for a specific recommendation, go for the whole-wheat fetuccini with a nice white sauce. It is definitely our favorite!

There is also a relatively new item called the Heaps Sampler. It includes all-you-can-eat pizza. They will bring you a lot of different kinds including all-meat, pepperoni, chicken alfredo, barbecue chicken, and others. They even bring you dessert pizzas like cobblers and cookie pizza.

Mom loves the salad bar and garlic bread. She eats everyone’s garlic bread!

Dad prefers to eat as much pasta and pizza as possible.

One more recommendation: get a mug of root beer. Brick Oven makes their own root beer and it is amazing. We don’t normally drink soda pop, but we make an exception for Brick Oven root beer.

If you have family coming into town, or you’re celebrating a birthday, Brick Oven in Provo is the place to be!

There are other Brick Oven locations throughout the state: Layton, South Jordan, St. George (We still think Provo is the best!).

[As with all our restaurant reviews, we received no compensation– well, except for the free kids meal we got for joining their Birthday Club for our 7 year-old’s birthday, but you can get that, too!]

For birthday, kids get a free kids meal (if you’ve signed up for the coupon), ice cream, and lots of waiters singing to them.
